After years of collaboration with our city and county partners, we’re thrilled to announce the official groundbreaking of Target and Home Depot at The Willows—Cookeville’s newest retail destination at I-40 and Willow Avenue.

With a $60 million investment and just over 300 new jobs coming to the area, this project marks a huge win for our community’s growth and future. A special thank you to CHM Development, the developers behind this exciting project, for helping bring this vision to life.

Construction is set to begin immediately, with doors expected to open in Fall 2026. These additions are among the most requested by our residents, and we’re proud to see them becoming a reality.

Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this happen. Here’s to a future filled with new opportunities and continued growth for Cookeville!

Yesterday’s Signature Luncheon: State of Early Education was all about shaping the future, starting with our youngest learners! Leaders from the Putnam County School System shared updates on early childhood education and plans for the new PCSS Early Learning Academy, home of the Scholars! Set to open in December 2025, the Academy will serve up to 450 PreK students by the 2026-2027 school year. Follow Putnam County Schools to keep up with the latest news on this project!

It’s official! Home Depot and Target have purchased property in the highly anticipated Willows Shopping Center, located at I-40 and Willow Ave. This project has been years in the making, and we are thrilled to see it finally coming to fruition.

Site work begins immediately, with the shopping center set to open in Fall 2026. In addition to these two major retailers, the center will feature several outparcels that will soon be home to new restaurants—stay tuned for announcements! Special thanks to CHM LLC for bringing the center to Cookeville.
