PUTNAM COUNTY – A “Spirit of Teamwork” is the theme for the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce’s 11th Annual Membership Meeting, which will take place on Thursday, March 19. The event’s theme will focus on the teamwork exhibited by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletics Association (TSSAA) and the community as a whole to turn Cookeville and Putnam County into a sought-after sports destination. A reception will be held at 5:00 p.m. with dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The event, known as the community’s premier business event of the year, was rescheduled last month due to the extreme weather facing Putnam County and other parts of the state.
Bernard Childress, executive director of TSSAA, will be the keynote speaker for the evening.
“We appreciate the partnership we have with TSSAA and enjoy Bernard’s leadership as executive director. We are excited to have valued partners like him and members of the Board of Control here with us as we look forward to a bright future of continued cooperation,” said Phillip Baker, Chamber board chairman.
Attendees will also be in for a surprise, as the evening’s entertainment takes a magical turn when renowned magician Stephen Bargatze takes the stage. Bargatze, an internationally acclaimed comedian and motivational speaker, also serves as the Director of Student Services for TSSAA.
“I’m beyond excited for the evening’s entertainment. This will be our first annual meeting like that, and am honored we can have a true performer like Stephen who has graced the stage of ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ and consistently wows audiences with his unique blend of slight-of-hand and humor,” said Dianne Callahan, vice president of Organizational Management for the Chamber.
In addition to the evening’s magical program, the gavel will be passed to incoming Chamber Board Chairman Phillip Baker from Past Chairman Chuck Sparks. Baker, Agency Manager for Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee, will serve a one-year term as board chairman.
Premier sponsors for the annual meeting are Chick-fil-a, Cookeville Regional Medical Center, First Tennessee Bank and Twin Lakes. The reception sponsor is Stonecom Radio.
Tickets for the event are available for $75 per person with the deadline for purchase being Wednesday, March 18. Chamber members may purchase tickets by contacting Jenny Wilson at 931-526-2211 or JWilson@CookevilleChamber.com.
